$1000 Award
In honor of Hattie Mae Sims, we offer this scholarship to support the financial needs of African American students pursuing their post-secondary education dreams and opportunities. Hattie Mae instilled a sense of community and giving in her family. She consistently reminded them "you suppose to help people". We hope to help as many students as we can with this one time award in her honor.

We spent the entire summer creating a program for our school … We provide a space for young women … to converse about difficult topics, flourish in the skill of discussing to learn and understand rather than to convince, and then use the perspectives of the entire group to initiate change.
